To deactivate your Instagram account, follow these steps:
1. Visit the Instagram website or open the app on your device.
2. Log in to your account if you haven't already.
3. Go to your profile by tapping/clicking on your profile picture at the bottom right.

4. Tap/click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) at the top right corner, then select "Settings."
5. Scroll down and tap/click on "Account."
6. From the account options, select "Delete Account" at the bottom of the page.

7. Instagram will ask you to provide a reason for deleting your account. Choose the appropriate option or select "Something Else" if none of the reasons apply.
8. After making your selection, enter your Instagram password to proceed.
9. Finally, tap/click on "Permanently delete my account" to confirm the deactivation.
Please note that account deactivation is different from permanently deleting your account. If you only deactivate, your account and information will be hidden temporarily but can be reactivated by logging back in.
